INDEPENDENT LIVING SKILLS TRAINING
|

Work with an Independent Living Specialist to learn to do things for yourself independently. These include but are not limited to household management, budgeting, employment, education, daily living, self help, your legal and civil rights, and almost anything else you can think of.

PEER SUPPORT
|
|

|
Work with a Peer Associate, someone who has first-hand experience with disability, to learn about your disability, your options to overcome myths, moral support when you pursue an endeavor that is scary, a friend who has been there before.
|
|
INFORMATION AND REFERRAL
|
|

|
Centers for Independence are available to assist you with information regarding disability issues in the state and community and can refer you to others in the state and community that can help you find an answer to a question or concern or meet a need for you or a family member.
|
|
ADVOCACY
|
|

|
Staff can assist you to advocate for a specific cause or can advocate to change a system that prevents equal access or fails to meet the needs of all constituents. Discuss your needs with our staff at any time.
|
|
DE-INSTITUTIONALIZATION
|
|

|
Obtain assistance to move or help a friend or family member move from an institutional setting back into the community. Locate and access state, local and federal resources to meet your needs to make this a reality. Access Home or Community Based services that can make you independent again.
|
|
TRANSITION
|
|

|
High school students with disabilities are provided assistance in transitioning from the secondary education system into work or post-secondary education. A community collaborative is available to assist students make their own choices for their future.
